Majestic Movers

Majestic Movers is our daytime class aimed at Seniors or people recovering from injury or illness.

Dance, Stretch, Smile with Majestic Movers;

Dance - specially choreographed low impact dance routines with no spins or jumps.  Easy to learn Ballroom and Latin dance routines such as the upbeat Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Salsa through to the slower Waltz, Tango and Rumba. You dance solo, no partner is required.

Stretch - Every class includes a standing Stretch & Strengthen, as detailed below.  A lovely relaxing stretch and some strengthening stretches that help work the core muscles, helping to improve posture and balance, reducing the risk of falls and injuries.

Smile - Get fit whilst having fun.  What we tell people who come to the class is “Get your body moving and just have fun with the class!”  So many of our Dance Movers comment that the hour goes so quickly and dancing gives the brain a good work-out as well!

We finish the class with a cup of tea and a natter, a perfect opportunity for some social interaction and to meet some new people.

The key is to keep your body moving, whatever your age, so come and give the class a try with a Free Taster!

Stretch & Strengthen

We incorporate a lovely ‘Stretch & Strengthen’ in our Majestic Movers classes.

This part of our class is a very important aspect, it is a standing yoga based flow of moves.  We guide people through a sequence from head to toe, stretching and holding whilst pressing into the floor with our feet.  We move from the neck, down through the body, the shoulders, arms, hands, abs, glutes and into the feet.

The stretching and releasing helps to cool down the muscles to prevent injury.  It keeps us supple and toned throughout the body, improving circulation and balance.

Regular dance helps keep the ligaments and tendons healthy and stretched which is vital for a supple body to carry out daily tasks and strengthening the bones as we age.  When we finish there is a wonderful sense of wellbeing.

As people get older their joints can get stiffer.  Exercise helps to keep our joints healthy by keeping ‘juice’ in the joints!  Dancing helps keep our bones strong and our muscles in good shape.

Come along and see it for yourself with a Seated Movers Free Taster class.

Seated Movers

Seated Movers is the latest branch of Dance Movers. We felt that people should still be able to enjoy dancing even if they feel they could not manage a standing class.  This class is aimed at Seniors, those who have limited mobility or those who are recovering from injury or illness.

Seated Movers will help improve core strength, leg strength, mobility & flexibility, all key in fall prevention.

Dance, Stretch, Smile with Seated Movers;

Dance - Sitting down to dance not only supports the person, the chair is a useful tool to improve fitness and aid strength. Chair exercise can help with building strength in the muscles, ligaments and tendons.

Seated Movers will help to improve posture and cognitive skills, it is a work out for the brain too!

Stretch - As we do steps this helps to strengthen the bones which is very important as we age.  The movement and stretching helps with flexibility and mobility.

Smile - The movement, along with the great music, certainly lifts the spirits and can help alleviate symptoms of depression.  We finish with a cup or tea and a time to chat, meet new people and form new friendships which all helps to naturally bring a smile to your face.
